Operation HOTT (February 1, 2001)

The Columbus Fire Department conducted a month-long series of high rise fire training evolutions at the abandoned CMHA Taylor Terrace building at 88 East First Avenue. Various on-duty units were taken out of service each day for training, staged at Fourth Street and First Avenue, and responded (on a Signal X) when dispatched on the training academy talkgroup. For training purposes, the fires were treated as actual incidents, complete with "rescues" and roaring fires. Here are some views of the training the morning of February 1.
Fire roars out the windows as Ladder 1 and Engine 2 arrive on the scene.
Ladder 1 sets up for possible rescue of "victims".
Ladder 1 is set up and preparing for rescues.

The fire has been extinguished, rescues made, and everyone is starting to assemble for the critique.
